So summer is here and like most of you out there, I am thinking of how many weekends I can get away and go camping. It is always a great adventure to get away for a few days, set up your tent, and just relax. Let all those worries and cares just melt away and enjoy the luxury of doing nothing but being in the great outdoors!

It doesn’t really matter if you are a family of car campers, a couple of serious mountain hikers or one very intense wilderness hiker, this is the time of year to indulge in your heart’s desire. Of course, no matter what kind of a camper or hiker you are, you always need gear. And I always find myself spending more than I should, and wanting more than I think I can afford. So I have been up on the web looking for bargains, and I am more than happy to share them with everyone. Here is what I found:

First of all, you need some basic equipment like knives, lanterns and water containers. Here are a few I found that are all on sale, so get them now while they are still in stock! Of course, sometimes it is great when you find something online that you wouldn’t normally buy because it is more of a luxury, but it happens to be on sale.

I would call all of these items that kind of purchase. I don’t normally get something like a kit for a solar warmed shower, but man, at this price how can I not? I found a few items that fall under this category. I am sure there is something in here that you just know will make that next camping trip just a little more fun. So whatever your excuse for camping, let’s get all our cheap and not so cheap camping gear together and head out to the great outdoors just as soon as we can!

When looking for cheap camping equipment one of the things you always should be on the lookout for is a portable camping stove. Nothing makes camping out a wonderful experience quite like cooking your dinner on your own portable camping stove. I know that there are quite a few brands out there that make portable camping stoves, but always check out any portable camping stove you are looking to buy very carefully to ensure that you are getting the exact type, model and size of stove that works for you.

Boy- nothing tastes better than when you cook it over a fire or camp stove! Is it because you are outdoors all day and just hungrier or is there something almost magical about eating outdoors? I don’t know the answer, but I do know that have the right equipment makes a big difference in how much work it is to cook while camping. My Dad might have been perfectly happy making coffee in an old coffee tin on the fire, but I like my coffee with no ash for extra flavour – thank you! Read the rest of this entry »
